On-Water Navigation Training

The Mariners School four-day/four-night and six-day/six-night On-Water Navigation course takes place onboard the sailing catamaran Destiny's Desire and offers real-world coastal navigation training with practical hands-on experience along some of the east coast's most scenic waterways. Navigation uses state-of-the-art GPS and e-chart navigation, as well as traditional log and compass techniques using paper charts, with special emphasis on the use of radar.

Instruction occurs in daily group and individual sessions, with plenty of time for navigational practice, reading and site-seeing. As many as six students can live and work comfortably on the vessel. Accommodations are double occupancy private cabins, and spouses, partners or friends who may not be interested in the navigation training will find the experience delightful simply as a voyage.
